JUNE 14TH: TJ DOUGLAS, "DYING" ALBUM RELEASE SHOW
NY · STONE CIRCLE THEATRE

About this event
TJ Douglas celebrates the release of their new album, Dying, with a night of music, poetry, and performance. Dying will be released by Team Love Records on vinyl, cassette and digital streaming platforms.
TJ Douglas (Our Ladystar of the Sea, Joey) has always written music about their life. For the last 5 years, TJ's life has been spiritually, emotionally and physically accompanying people who are dying. TJ is a palliative care hospital chaplain grounded in contemplative traditions, but without a particular religious tradition / affiliation of their own. The 11 songs of Dying are accordingly full of love & grief, life & death, and devotion to humanity.
Joining the bill are two brilliant and heart-centered artists: Ben Seretan and Daniel Kleederman. They will each play a set, leading up to TJ performing Dying live, with accompaniment from Kyle Morgan.
Please join us for a beautiful night.
Tickets: $15 advance / $15 at the door

Daniel Kleederman: A “soulful alternative rock...radiating [from an] idiosyncratic mind” (Popmatters), Daniel Kleederman’s music often straddles two worlds: the bucolic, rural northeastern US, and the frantic cosmopolitan centers that blast out of these wildernesses. Kleederman grew up in western Massachusetts before moving to New York City, where he spent years as a sought-after musical voice on the guitar, most recently and notably as lead guitarist and musical director for indie rock powder keg Bartees Strange. After almost a decade in NYC, and between national tours with Strange and the band, he returned and reconnected to his childhood home and past, self-producing his debut solo EP Grand Kid to capture the spirit of this homecoming, which Flood Magazine described as “channel[ing] the tender intimacy of Sam Beam (Iron & Wine).”
Ben Seretan: Ben Seretan is a musician and writer who is always up to something, and has been for a while now. His work can be hard to pin down - in 2018 he doled out My Life's Work, a 24-hour-long piece of guitar drone autobiography but then followed it in early 2020 with Youth Pastoral, a mega-church-sized, full-band album about breaking up (with God) that was named one of the best of the year by Pitchfork. Another left turn - 2021 brought Cicada Waves, a serene record consisting entirely of an antique piano and encountered sound from the Appalachian woods ("There’s a moment towards the end where Seretan spontaneously duets with a nearby songbird and it’s one of the most magical things you’ll hear this (or any) year." -Aquarium Drunkard). He also maintains My Big Break, a hard-to-describe biweekly newsletter featuring new writing and new recordings. Seretan currently lives in Troy, NY where he enjoys watching Columbo and working as a bartender at a local DIY venue.
