About this event
Otracami is a songwriter and artist based in New York. Since introducing her ethereal yet experimental approach to contemporary folk in 2022 with singles like “Pipe Scream” and “In The Car,” the artist has slowly been carving out a lane for herself in a burgeoning folk scene. As Otracami, Camila Ortiz toys with convention, employing a whimsical yet weighty approach to her writing, which is only underscored by her love of left-field instrumentation. (From Glide Magazine)
Raised on a crowded West Hollywood intersection, Los Angeles has always been a central character in Sofia Wolfson’s music, whether she draws her inspiration from her morning hike up to the Observatory with her dog Gulliver, or from conversations she overhears while walking through her neighborhood. Her musical influences range from Joni Mitchell to Blake Mills, The Band to Fiona Apple, music she was introduced to by her dad on long car rides north to visit family.
Middle Sattre (SAT-tree) is an experimental folk collective helmed by Alaska-based composer Hunter Prueger. Their debut album Tendencies has been described as a “queer coming of age epic” (The Austin Chronicle), “gorgeous” (KUTX), and “essential… deep and serious artistry” (The Bluegrass Situation). Middle Sattre is known for their blunt honesty and vulnerable lyricism, as well as their exploratory approach to sound. They can often be found playing banjos with fidget spinners, placing mandolins inside grand pianos, and draping chains across guitar strings.
The Bird Calls is the musical project of Sam Sodomsky, a writer based in Brooklyn, New York. Since 2022, his approach has expanded and his albums have arrived via Ruination Record Co. Sodomsky released near 40 albums since 2011. His latest, Melody Trail, came out on February 7th, 2025. It features eclectic, colorful production by Ryan Weiner and the sharpest songwriting of Sam’s career. The lyrics are characterized by wry quotations, traces of frontier Americana imagery, and an inimitable cocktail of melancholy, nostalgia, humor, and stone-tablet wisdom about the natural rhythms of self-actualization and disappointment.
