The Melodica Drone & Bach Quartet is redefining the melodica though their obsessive love of reeds. With a dual specialty in contemporary ambient music and Baroque classics, they are on a mission to make you love the instrument too.
This program will feature Bach’s double violin concerto, organ works, a new piece by local composer Hannah Cai Sobel, and more. The show marks the release of Andrew Yoon’s altogether-too-serious recording of the complete Bach cello suites on melodica, parts of which will be played here live.
The MDBQ is melodicists Lili Tobias, Lara Lewison, Andrew Yoon, and accordionist Hank Mason. The group can be found online at mdbq.org and on Instagram at @mdbquartet.
