NeoAncients makes its New York debut with a one-night pop-up at Stone Circle Theatre (Queens, NY) -- a setting uniquely aligned with the festival’s world of music, ritual and contemporary folklore.
Headlined by MEMORIALS, fresh from the release of their new album All Clouds Bring Not Rain (March 2026), the evening offers a rare chance to experience one of the UK’s most compelling new acts in an intimate setting.
Described by KEXP as “kaleidoscopic art-pop and adventurous psych-rock with an immersive, experimental aura,” MEMORIALS operate at the intersection of experimentation and melody. The Wire praises their “advanced and adventurous avant pop action,” while The Quietus notes “a band who appear to have ideas in abundance,” and Under the Radar highlights a sound that “embodies the polarities of avant-garde and classic songwriting.”
About the lineup:
MEMORIALS, the duo consisting of Verity Susman and Matthew Simms (previously of Electrelane and Wire), create panoramic pop that draws on both the familiar and the strange, while also treading new ground. With their playful and experimental style, combined with a love of good tunes, they sit comfortably alongside Broadcast, Portishead, Arthur Russell, The Velvet Underground, Yo La Tengo and Tortoise.
Doug Shaw (aka Highlife) is a London born songwriter living and performing in New York since 2003. Shaw moonlights in sways as Gang Gang Dance's bassist and was formerly long-time guitarist and multi-instrumentalist of Drag City group White Magic as well as Sierra Leonean star “Bubu King” Janka Nabay’s band.
Anni Rossi is an American singer, songwriter and producer from Minnesota. She plays an electric-viola that was handcrafted from a tree branch by former Swans percussionist Thor Harris.[1] Rossi adopts modern guitar and bass techniques and applies them to this instrument, as well as traditional viola styles. In recent years her music has evolved to incorporate elements of R&B and electronic music.
