About this event
Nola Sporn Smith presents the 3rd iteration of this multidisciplinary series at Stone Circle, with offerings of movement, music, & performance
Artist’s Bios:
iiisa:
is the budding solo project of NYC-based latinx vocalist and improviser-composer, isabel crespo pardo. Their intimate songs emerge from warm sonic landscapes filled with familial chatter and field recordings from their home in Costa Rica. Taking great care, they transform opaque memories into powerful ephemera in hopes of offering solace. More at isabelcrespo.com
gushes:
With a penchant for playful psychedelia and floral devastation, gushes is a loop-driven art-prog music and ceremony project by Jennae Santos. On the toes of their Portugal Winter Tour, for January 16th, this gush will feature drummer/percussionist Matt Evans for a special performance of colorful bombast and intimate vibrance.
Shannon Yu and Luna Beller Tadiar:
Dancer-choreographer Shannon Yu 余香儒 is a Lenapehoking based artist from Taiwan. Sha holds an MFA in Performance and Performance Studies from Pratt Institute. Shannon is the Artistic Director of multimedia dance company SHA Creative Outlet. Shannon is the 2023 Asian American Arts Alliance’s Jadin Wong Fellow for Dance.
Luna Beller-Tadiar (she/they) is a queer mixed-US-Filipinx multi-media artist and performer who works in choreography, video, text, and comics. Her work excavates a body language made up of fragments: remnants of lands, communities, and machines. Luna draws on movement training in aikido, capoeira, tango, and contemporary dance, and is a 2024 Asian American Arts Alliance Jadin Wong Artist of Exceptional Merit.
Nola Sporn Smith (presenter):
Nola Sporn Smith is a dance & theater artist from Brooklyn, NY. She makes work (both solo and collaborative), performs in the work of others, and is a caretaker of The Woods, an affordable rehearsal space and venue for artists located in Ridgewood, Queens. This is her third curation at Stone Circle.
