Join us for our monthly Ecstatic Dance Arlington at our home at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington @ 4444 Arlington Blvd on Saturdays from 2-5:30pm!

Saturday Dec 21 will be our special 𝐻𝑜𝓁𝒾𝒹𝒶𝓎 𝐿𝑜𝓋𝑒 dance featuring an expanded vendor village for local holiday shopping! The community is encouraged to wear your most festive attire, whether that’s an ugly Christmas sweater, blinking lights, onesies, or anything in between! 🎁🪔🎄🎊

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance meditation that allows you to embody your most joyful and playful self in a safe container. The intent is to create a sacred dance space where we can expand our consciousness, build community and allow our inner child to dance and be free for all ages and walks of life.The event begins with an embodiment warmup to get us tapped into our bodies, goes straight into dance meditation with a live DJ, and cools down with a sound healing experience. 

ELECTRO⚡️CUTE is a conscious event-focused DJ known for sampling global music mixed with organic, driving, and funky electronic beats as an homage to her multicultural background which includes Persian, German, Afghani, Mediterranean, Indian, and Egyptian. You can expect to hear many of these cultural influences throughout her sets as she takes you on an ethereal musical journey all over the globe through many eras and genres with unexpected twists and turns along the way that will have you both twirling and twerking on the dance floor. @dj_electrocute 

For our opening Kris Harris (they/them) will guide us through a warm-up with a heart-centered approach, blending together energy work practices, gentle somatics, and breathwork. The focus will be on attuning us to our body’s intuition and sensation-based movement choices. Elements of dance improvisation and yoga flow will be woven in, to encourage strength, grounding and fluidity. You can expect to feel more range of motion in your body,  an open heart, and joy to guide you through your dance. @ohheyitskris

Kivibes aka Emma Olmedo will guide our closing sound healing experience with her gong, ocean waves, chimes, 7 crystal chakra bowls, and Merkaba singing pyramid, catering to the group's energy to ground, co-regulate our nervous systems, and lead us into deep relaxation and connection. @kivibes

This is a 2 room experience with one room as a dedicated dance floor and one room curated as a “chill out room”. The chill-out room is intended as a lower stimulation space for rest, low volume conversations, tea, and enjoying offerings from local healing vendors including energy & tarot readings, body work, jewelry, and more! 

The rules of the container are simple:

- Consent first! ALWAYS wait for consent before dancing with someone, if you don’t wish to dance with someone put your hands in a prayer position to thank them and move along. 

- No shoes. So we don’t step on anyone’s toes. 

- No chit chat on the dance floor. Yelling out in joy is allowed! 

- No alcohol or substances. This way, we can stay super present with each other. 

- No photos or video of the dance floor. Photos and videos of the DJ are allowed with the DJ’s consent. 

- All forms of movement or rest is encouraged! Go cuddle up in the chill-out room with a blanket and pillow and take a sensory break. The music will be waiting for you when you’re ready to return!

$30 standard door ticket price

$30 community sustainer tickets will be available online in unlimited supply. These tickets are an opportunity for those who would like to pay a little more now to ensure that our dance community is sustainable and continues for months and years to come ❤️

Volunteer opportunities available for those who would like to donate their time to set up, break down, or work door duty in exchange for a free ticket. Join our WhatsApp group linked in the event page for more info! :)

The church has also offered to cover costs for those who are in financial hardship but are unable to volunteer for accessibility reasons. Reach out to the organizer or UUCA directly for more info.

Schedule:

2-2:15: welcome & get settled, leave your shoes and personal items in a cubby or in the chill room.

2:15- 2:45- embodiment warm up

2:45-4:15pm - dance flow 

4:20-5:15 - sound healing cool down

5:15-5:30 - community sharing circle: share one word to describe your experience, longer discussion about anything that came up for you, and share community announcements

Plenty of parking available in the large parking lot. Please enter through the front door and come down the stairs to the basement. Elevators available.
